Rotterdam Central Station, a true architectural icon of the Dutch urban landscape, combines modernity, transparency and functionality. From the inside, the entrance hall appears to be made entirely of wood and glass and continues the topography in the form of deep, sharp and straight folds. There are no two identical surfaces in terms of size and inclination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The simultaneous use of the daylight shafts in the main hall to integrate the lighting is worth mentioning. When the sunlight enters, the narrow cones of light create reflections and clear contrasts; these lines of light appear random, are determined by the daylight and bathe the room in a natural, lively lighting atmosphere even after dark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the time of day, whether morning or evening, the light was provided by the customised lighting concept from the SILL brand. SILL 02S series luminaires were installed in the daylight shafts, consisting mainly of six interconnected triple modules. The advantage lies in the translucent construction and the fact that each luminaire can be individually adjusted. The individual alignment and the specific output, depending on the mounting height, simulate a pleasant day-night rhythm in the large main hall. The SILL luminaires emphasise the very special architecture of this main station and do not interrupt the modulation of the daylight. The platforms are illuminated at night by SILL 155 series floodlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
