Rotterdam's landmark - the Ersamus Bridge in a new light<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 802 metre long structure spans the New Meuse with a 410 metre long, asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge, which has a 278 metre wide main opening and a 139 metre high, white, angled pylon. The bridge was designed in 1989 by the architects Van Berkel & Bos (UNStudio) and quickly became a symbol of the city.
As part of extensive renovation measures, SILL has given the bridge a new look. As before, the pylon and the supporting cables are illuminated so that the Erasmus Bridge is visible even from a great distance. The previous luminaires with conventional lighting technology were replaced with energy-efficient LED luminaires from the 14L series. The lane lights and the decorative lighting on the underside of the bridge structure were also replaced.
The city of Rotterdam officially put the new lighting system into operation. The infinite colour possibilities were demonstrated with an impressive light show. A total of 86 14L luminaires in 4500 K and RGBW were installed at the previously used light points for the illumination - all equipped with DALI control. With IP65 and active temperature management (operationally safe up to ta55\u00b0), the 14L brings the interplay of light and bridge architecture to life in the outdoor area.
The street lighting on the bridge was equipped with Series 155 luminaires and an additional \"CityTouch\" radio control system. CityTouch is a software platform for outdoor lighting. It includes web applications for managing the street lights and analysing the lighting data. This new technology turns ordinary city lighting into a real smart city.
With this new lighting, the city saves a whole 70% in energy costs for bridge lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
