The Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is a listed building on Breitscheidplatz in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin.
Thanks to SILL, both the new and the old Memorial Church have now been put in the best possible light. It was important for the Berlin Senate to obtain efficient and cost-saving lighting. By using Series 49 LED floodlights, the total connected load could be reduced by more than 80% from 1500KW to 250KW.
While the old luminaires emit an extremely monochrome, yellowish light, the variety of different lighting techniques used by the new spotlights emphasises the plasticity of the monument.
